BOT fills several open positions
June 20, 2005
The NIU Board Of Trustees filled several positions recently.
Joseph Grush was appointed acting dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Due to the death of former dean Frederick L. Kitterle, the position had been vacant.
After a national search, Promod Vohra was appointed as the second dean of the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology.
William Tallon also was appointed interim dean of the College of Business.
The board also approved a $600,000 fund to improve living conditions in Grant Towers. The money is intended to go toward immediate needs, such as worn and broken furniture and the installation of audio/visual equipment.
“In all the decisions made today, I’d like students to understand that the board has considered the best interests of the students,” NIU President John Peters said.
The BOT also swore in three new members: Cherilyn Murer, Marc Strauss and new student trustee Andrew Nelms.
“One of my goals as a student trustee is to educate the decision-makers and the state legislatures about what NIU is, about what we do and about why funding NIU’s higher education is so important,” Nelms said.
