NIU to host DePaul

Women’s tennis

The NIU women’s tennis team comes home today for a non-conference match against DePaul at 1 p.m. at the West Campus Courts.

The Huskies (5-7 overall, 1-4 MAC) broke a four-match losing streak and won their first MAC match of the year with a 7-0 sweep at Akron on Saturday.

NIU will look to revenge last year’s 6-1 road defeat to DePaul. Senior Cassie Drake scored the lone point with a 6-4, 6-4 win over DePaul’s Marina Parashkevova.

Women’s golf

The Huskies were led by Jackie Heslop as they finished fourth at the 11-team University of Illinois Spring Classic on Saturday.

As a team the Huskies shot a two-round total of 636, 20 shots behind champion Illinois.

Heslop shot a season-low, 5-over-par-77 in the final round and finished tied for eighth place at the event.

Men’s golf

Nick Schenk shot a three-round 3-under-par-211 to earn his third top-10 finish and led the Huskies to an 11th place finish at the Marshall Invitational on Saturday.

Louisville won the event with a three-day score of 837. The Huskies shot 889 over the three days.

Men’s soccer

The Huskies went 1-0-1 during two games at Huskie Stadium April 2.

NIU started with a 1-1 tie with Drake and ended with a 2-0 victory over Loyola.

Jose Alvarado scored the lone goal in the tie while Trinidad Correa and Fraser Gibson scored in the night-cap.
