Campos takes 12th in region

After three and a half months of competition, the NIU gymnastics team ended its season over the weekend.

NIU senior Kristina Campos ended her career as a Huskie with a 12th place finish in the all-around competition at the 2005 NCAA South Central Regional.

In her fourth appearance at Regional play, the Gladstone, Mo. native scored a 38.025. The senior’s score was 1.500 points off of Nebraska’s Emily Parsons, who won the individual meet.

Campos’ best event finish was in the floor exercise, where she tied for 15 with a 9.800. Her only other top 30 performance came in the uneven bars where she tied for 27 with a 9.725.

The bars were also the event for which junior Ashlee Williams was chosen as a specialist. She scored a 9.700 to finish the event tied for 29th.

Campos also finished 38th in the vault with a 9.125 and 36th on balance beam with a 9.375.
