Rock for life
April 27, 2005
The Public Relations Student Society of America will host, “Rock for Life,” a benefit concert at 7 p.m. Sunday night at Starbusters Bar and Grill, 930 Pappas Drive.
The event will benefit the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois.
“We are thrilled that PRSSA is bringing awareness to organ donation,” said Kate O’Connor, associate executive director of the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois.
O’Connor said there are more than 4,500 people in Illinois who are on an organ donor waiting list. She hopes the benefit concert will bring awareness and students can help the cause.
“Students are legally able to make their own decisions for themselves about their body,” said O’Connor.
The Dog and Everything will headline the night with supporting acts Kirkland, Field Trip and Ryan’s Hope beginning at 8 p.m.
The Dog and Everything are a Chicago-area rock band whose songs have been played on 94.7 The Zone and Q101. They have toured with the likes of Taking Back Sunday and Motion City Soundtrack.
Before the music acts take the stage, there will be a free buffet starting at 7 p.m. with food from local vendors including Qdoba, Pizza Villa and WildRose Bistro.
