Three arrested after fight at HSC

Three people were arrested for battery charges following a fight at the Holmes Student Center Tuesday night.

University Police were not able to comment Wednesday, but listed several names in their reports.

Brendon G. Elliott, 18, of Sycamore, George R. Cano, 21, of DeKalb and Kirstie J. Campbell, 18, of Sycamore, were charged with battery at the Holmes Student Center at 9:20 p.m.

They are not listed as NIU students.

Lindsay Hunter, a sophomore child development major, said she was on the bus when she saw the altercation.

Hunter said two people appeared to be joking with another man when the fight broke out.

The two then pushed the man against the bus window, and then toward the front of the vehicle before beating him, she said.

Hunter said the attackers then fled when police arrived.

“Before the bus driver could even open the door, [the victim] collapsed next to the wheel,” she said.

Hunter said the man complained about back pains.

Ambulances later wheeled the man out on a stretcher.

University Police on duty Wednesday said they could not confirm the cause of the fight.

Elliott was not taken to DeKalb County Jail for a mug shot, said DeKalb County Sheriff’s Lt. Joyce Klein.
