Pair break into woman’s home
March 24, 2005
Police are searching for two men who broke into an elderly woman’s home just south of the DeKalb city limits Tuesday.
DeKalb County Sheriff’s police responded to a report of a home invasion in the 3100 block of South Fourth Street that occurred sometime before 3:30 p.m.
Sheriff Roger Scott said two white males kicked open the door of a home belonging to an 89-year-old woman with the apparent intent of burglary.
Evidence at the scene indicated the two men went through belongings at the house before they were unexpectedly confronted by the woman in the living room, Scott said.
“At this point we don’t believe they knew anyone was in the residence,” Scott said.
Police said a neighbor witnessed the two men leaving in a small, shiny, silver sports utility vehicle.
Scott said there was no indication the two men were armed or took anything from the home.
Police are asking anyone with information about the vehicle or the two men to call the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office at 895-2155 or Crime Stoppers at 895-3272.
