DeKalb police are investigating a Wednesday night home invasion in which several armed men entered an apartment and attacked several NIU students.

A report of the incident in the 800 block of Edgebrook Drive came in at 11:12 p.m., police said.

About six masked men, with one carrying a handgun, two carrying pepper spray and at least one carrying a baseball bat entered the apartment.

Three of the five victims were pepper sprayed, DeKalb police Lt. Jim Kayes said. None of those pepper sprayed required medical treatment.

The suspects gained entry through an unlocked door, Kayes said.

The intent of the intruders appeared to be robbery, police said. A group of subjects with similar descriptions had been seen loitering in the area several hours earlier.

The victims told police they believed nothing was taken.
