Cable updates coming

The Residence Hall Association will announce proposed channel selections for next year’s residence hall cable package and entertain a surprise announcement from NIU officials.

“The cable updates for next year will be discussed and a budget to make the necessary updates will also be presented,” said Keith Kruchten, RHA president.

The RHA will also discuss changes to its constitution and preliminary information about next year’s residence hall technology fees, Kruchten said.

Brian Hemphill, vice president of Student Affairs, Bob Albanese, associate vice president of finance and facilities and Michael Coakley, assistant vice president for Student Life, will also attend to share some important and undisclosed news about the residence halls, Kruchten said.

“We [RHA] are very excited about the impact of what will be announced at the meeting on Sunday and are very happy to be able to work with the university on such important issues that will affect the residents,” Kruchten said.

Both Coakley and Hemphill declined to comment on their announcements.

The RHA, along with Student Housing and Dining, are gearing up for the new room sign up days coming at the end of March.

“Last year the RHA worked extensively with Housing and Dining Services to revamp the procedures of room sign up and everything was very smooth,” Kruchten said.

The RHA meeting is at 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the Stevenson South Smart Classroom. All residents are welcome to attend.
