Eisley: Room Noises

By Collin Quick

When family members put aside personal differences and collaborate to make an album, it’s either hit or miss.

Hit: Liam and Noel Gallagher and Oasis.

Miss: The Osmonds.

Hit: Jonny and Colin Greenwood and Radiohead.

Miss: The Partridge Family.

When four siblings and their cousin combine efforts, the final five-piece project is that of Eisley.

The surnamed band has opened for the likes of Snowpatrol and Brand New and was hand-picked to open for the 2003 Coldplay tour.

Its debut album, “Room Noises,” focuses on dark themes set against upbeat tempos and angelic voices.

The three females of the group dominate both guitar and piano leads as well as every vocal while the two remaining males keep the rhythm steady on bass and drums.

While successfully pulling off a “Children of the Corn” look, the quartet blends piano leads into every song and intermix lyrics that either speak total honesty or hinder on the edge of total bull.

The five-piece keep things simple throughout the album. No complex rhythms or misunderstood lyrics. Just simple family music.
