Gymnastics falls again

Saturday’s Fox Run Invitational saw the NIU gymnastics team’s lowest point total of the season.

With a score of 190.450, the Huskies placed fourth in their first quad meet of the season. The squad finished last behind the nation’s No. 2 team Michigan, No. 24 Michigan State and host New Hampshire.

The Huskies got off to a rough start as they finished last on the balance beam with a score of 46.800. Senior Kristina Campos scored a 9.725 to finish ninth for the Huskies (2-5 overall, 1-1 MAC).

NIU then placed third in the floor exercise with a 48.000.

The Huskies finished third on the uneven bars with a 48.350.

NIU senior Katie Willett led a trio of Huskies finishing in the top 15. Willett tied four other competitors for sixth place with 9.725.

The Huskies placed fourth on the vault with a score of 47.300.

Rounding out the competition with a 9.250 on the vault, Campos placed fifth in the individual all-around competition. The senior finished 1.025 points behind all-around champion Jenny Deiley (39.400) of Michigan with a 38.375.
