DeKALB — The DeKalb City Council will be holding a meeting Feb. 24, 2020 at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers of the DeKalb Municipal Building, 200 S. Fourth Street. Many different things will be discussed, including a consideration for changes to Chapter 38 “Intoxicating Liquors.” This is in response to the Jan. 13 proposal from multiple different City Council members and local businesses to allow 19 to 20 years old people access to bars, as well allowing liquor sales at businesses such as nail salons, fitness centers and tobacco lounges. After an open forum on Feb. 6, the proposal needs City Council direction. Another important part of the meeting will be a demonstration of the DeKalb Police Department’s new Police-to-Citizen software. This website will allow citizens to see a variety of different police information, such as recent arrests and the ability to report incidents, as well as registering bicycles and requesting security checks.
