The NIU gymnastics squad opens up its conference season at 2:05 p.m. Sunday at the Convocation Center against Eastern Michigan.

The Huskies head into the meet after a season-opening victory over Illinois-Chicago on Jan. 9. NIU junior Ashlee Williams was named the MAC gymnast for the week of Jan. 11 for her efforts.

“This is the best team Eastern has had in recent years,” NIU coach Mark Sontag said.

In a sport where mere tenths of a point can be the difference between a win or loss, the Huskies can’t afford too many mistakes.

The Huskies will bring the MAC’s best squad in the uneven bars.

NIU’s Jennifer Rice will try to take her second straight floor exercise title. The freshman will face a tough challenge from EMU’s Emily Koechel and Nicole O’Hara.
