‘Real World’ stars to visit DeKalb tonight

They used to be two strangers – both picked to live in a house with five other people and have their lives taped. They stopped being polite, started getting real and now they’re coming to DeKalb.
Two cast members of the “Real World: Philadelphia” reality television show will venture to DeKalb today as part of a promotional tour for a Spring Break travel company.
Shavonda- known for her sassy looks and charming charisma – and onscreen love interest Landon – known for his athletic appeal – will make an appearance tonight at Bar One, 1000 W. Lincoln Highway.
Chris Casey, account executive for StudentCity.com, said the cast members are scheduled to arrive in Chicago Thursday before trekking to DeKalb. The two cast members are scheduled for several radio spots throughout the day before arriving in the area.
Several members of the current Real World cast are touring America as part of a promotional deal between MTV and the travel company, making stops at prominent colleges and universities across the country.
“They’re … visiting campuses, signing autographs and speaking to students,” Casey said. “At night, they’re doing ‘different’ things.”
Casey said there were initial thoughts about having the duo speak to students during the day in addition to their late-night appearance tonight; however, scheduling and flight conflicts didn’t allow for ample time to do so.
The twosome is scheduled to arrive at Bar One sometime around 10 p.m. and will be there for several hours, Casey said. They will stay overnight in DeKalb before making their way to a scheduled stop at DePaul University in Chicago Friday afternoon.
Casey said attendees of today’s event will have the opportunity to meet and greet the cast members, as well as take photos and receive autographs.
“It’s exciting – it’s something new and different for the community,” said James Sanfilippo, a Bar One owner. “It’s something to get everyone excited about.”
Both Casey and Sanfilippo expect a large crowd to attend the event.
