Cable guy to connect at NIU
November 12, 2004
Larry the Cable Guy will “Git-R-Done” in DeKalb when he brings his stand-up comedy act to the NIU Convocation Center Friday, Jan. 21.
The show will be at 8 p.m. and tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Nov. 19 at the Convo box office. Prices for the show have not been announced, said Kevin Selover, marketing manager for the Convo Center.
Selover said he hopes to have ticket prices available by later today.
“His material is edgy and hard core,” Selover said. “It has a college appeal.”
No estimates have been made on how many tickets are expected to be sold for the show, he said.
“This show plays well to our market,” Selover said. “It has country appeal, and country does well here.”
No opening act has been confirmed yet, but generally there is an opening act for a comedy show, Selover said.
Larry the Cable Guy was a part of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, which also featured Jeff Foxworthy and Bill Engvall.
All three can be seen on “Blue Collar TV,” which airs on the WB Network and Comedy Central.
Although no other shows have been announced yet, Selover said they are keeping their eyes open for more shows and events.
“We have a whole bunch of shows sitting in front of us right now,” he said.
