Just thought I would help you guys with some facts that you omitted in your opinion about the draft coming back. The bill was sponsored in the House by Democrat Charles Rangel of New York; it was sponsored in the Senate by Democrat Ernest Hollings of South Carolina. The House voted down the bill on Tuesday by a vote of 2-402. Interestingly enough, Tuesday comes before Wednesday now! The bill will not even come before the Senate as it is viewed as a partisan attempt to spread fear during an election year. I know all these things were just minor oversights on your part, and you didn’t intend to mislead anyone with the line “ … President George W. Bush has plans to reinstate the military draft if he gets elected. Regardless whether these rumors were started by Democrats or if they hold some truth …” The weird thing about this whole story is that it seems to get any attention only in student papers – oh well!
