Dylan to play Oct. 31 show
September 19, 2004
American music legend Bob Dylan will play the Convocation Center with his band at 8 p.m. Oct. 31.
“It’s one thing to see Bob Dylan,” said Kevin Selover, marketing manager for the Convocation Center. “It’s quite another to see him on Halloween.”
Dylan is known for his eclectic blend of country, blues, folk and rock music.
Also known for his highly literate and lyrical prose, Dylan has stayed in the public eye and continues to play concerts, record new music and cameo in Victoria’s Secret underwear commercials.
Selover said Dylan currently is touring colleges nationwide. Over the summer, Dylan toured minor-league ballparks with Willie Nelson.
This won’t be Dylan’s first time at NIU. He played at the Chick Evans Field House in 1990.
“It’s amazing he can put together a college tour and college students still respond to Dylan’s music,” Selover said. “That is a testament to why he is a rock ’n’ roll legend.”
Selover said he expects Dylan to draw a substantial crowd.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday and will be $39.50 for reserved seats and $29.50 for general admission.
