Missing man dead
September 26, 2004
Police discovered the body of a missing Kingston man Thursday, several weeks after he disappeared.
DeKalb County Sheriff’s police said the body of 23-year-old Michael Elek Torok was found in a rural area east of Monroe Center in Ogle County. Police began searching the area after an examination of Torok’s cell phone records narrowed the search area.
Torok left his parents’ home in Kingston on the morning of Sept. 5 to visit a friend in Shabbona. Torok never arrived at the location and was last seen at a Cherry Valley Menard’s in that afternoon.
Torok was a member of the Army. He was a Private First Class who was honorably discharged.
The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office and the Ogle County Coroner’s Office is currently investigating the incident, and an autopsy was scheduled for Saturday.
DeKalb County Sheriff’s officials were unavailable for comment.
