Filming in suburbia

Who could imagine running into Molly Ringwald and Anthony Michael Hall inside the Illinois State Police station?
When the Weekender learned that the classic high school from “The Breakfast Club” had been turned into a police station, we couldn’t help but wonder what happened to the rest of our favorite locations from movies shot in the Chicago area.
As a matter of great taste, we decided to focus on one of Chicago’s all-time great directors, John Hughes, who supplied classic ’80s and ’90s favorites, including “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” “Sixteen Candles,” “Pretty in Pink” and even “Home Alone.” So, in case you were wondering where you could find Kevin McCallister’s house so you can beg the owners to smash paint cans into your face, the Weekender has got you covered.
