April 1, 2004
Glidden Campus Florist & Greenhouse and Altrusa will present their 30th annual floral design show, “The Music of Flowers,” at 7 p.m. today at the Egyptian Theatre, 135 N. Second St.
Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Tickets may be purchased at Glidden Campus Florist, 917 W. Lincoln Highway; The House, 263 E. Lincoln Highway; Megan Morrison, 237 E. Lincoln Highway; The Confectionary, 149 N. Second St.; or Brown’s County Market, 403 E. State St., Sycamore.
Seven designers from Glidden Campus Florist will create elaborate, themed floral arrangements set to the sounds and rhythms of music.
Ron Gilbertson, master of ceremonies, will present and describe the arrangements.
Arrangements will include colorful exotic and tropical flowers in addition to more commonly seen flowers. Props also will be used ranging from palm trees to stuffed animals, said Tracy Mapes, Glidden Campus Florist customer specialist.
More than 50 of the floral designs and plants will be given away to the audience by raffle, many of which are valued from $100 to $300.
All proceeds benefit Altrusa and its local charity endeavors. All community members are encouraged to attend.
“The show is a nice way to express floral arrangements,” Mapes said. “The talent of our designers will blow everyone away.”
