Rock4Life to play Otto’s

By Derek Wright

Rock 4 Life, Public Relations Student Society of America’s annual charity concert to benefit the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois, will hit Otto’s Niteclub, 118 E. Lincoln Highway.

Doors will open at 8 p.m. today, and bands will begin an hour later. The evening will include acts After The Fall, Nite ‘n’ Day and Empyrean.

The evening’s headliner will be Breathing Machine. The Wisconsin band has performed with the Grammy-nominated Sonny Landreth and has been included on recent compilations with artists such as Jay Farrar, Neil Young and Ryan Adams.

PRSSA President Jenny Sherman said the idea was to bring in local bands with a pre-existing DeKalb following, as well as larger, semi-national acts.

“This is something we have done for the past four years,” Sherman said. “April is the national month of organ donor awareness, so it is already on everyone’s mind.”

According to the National Kidney Foundation Web site, a new patient is added to the organ waiting list every 13 minutes. Currently, there are more than 80,000 patients, as 2,000 more are added each month.
