Warm weather shines on DeKalb
March 24, 2004
Warm weather and mostly sunny skies graced the DeKalb area Tuesday.
The temperature reached as high as 57 degrees, with more warm-weather days expected for the rest of this week and part of next week.
“It looks like it might be cloudy, but this is the start of a warm front that is coming in,” NIU staff meteorologist Gilbert Sebenste said.
Warm weather is expected to continue into next week, with highs in the 60s this weekend, he said.
Light rain and thunderstorms are expected Wednesday morning, but snow appears to be out of the picture.
“No cold waves are expected in the next week or so,” Sebenste said.
The warm weather will ride in on winds gusting up to 30 mph, he said.
“As the warm weather comes in, so do the winds,” Sebenste said. “It won’t be like last week.”
However, no one should be surprised if winter weather hits the area again soon, Sebenste said.
“In this month, we usually see a snow storm and our first highs in the 70s,” he said. “We still sometimes get snowstorms in April, too.”
