Get the ball rollin’

Bowl For Kids’ Sake will hold a fundraiser to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of DeKalb. The fundraiser is sponsored by DeKalb County’s Family Service Agency.
Event coordinator Katie Davis said groups of individuals, organizations, faculty, staff and students can pledge money for the event.
Davis said students should make the fundraiser a fun event. She said Greek organizations usually compete.
Participating in this event requires individuals or organizations to obtain a pledge packet and collect money for the event. After collecting money, the teams will bowl against each other.
Davis said the event is an opportunity for students to have fun by challenging friends while servicing the community.
“We want at least 1,000 bowlers,” Davis said. “We want to fill up the Huskie Den.”
The organization hopes to raise at least $115,000 from this event, with $11,000 coming from NIU participants. The event’s proceeds will go toward the “littles,” or children of DeKalb County, Davis said. The money will pay for intake, volunteers and maintaining free special events for the children.
“We want all children who are in need of a mentor to have one,” Davis said.
