One last hurrah
December 5, 2003
The National Pan-Hellenic Council is throwing a party Saturday for students to relax before finals.
The last party of the semester will cost 50 cents for those who bring a toy to be donated to underprivileged children in the area.
For those who do not have a toy, the party will cost $1. It will be from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the Holmes Student Center’s Regency Room.
Entertainment will include music and dancing.
“While getting your party on, you are also helping children of our community,” said Quinette Sterling, program coordinator for NPHC.
NPHC welcomes anyone to the party in hopes of collecting as many toys as possible.
“The more we have, the more we can ensure children will have more presents for Christmas,” Sterling said.
A large crowd is expected. Students not only want to relieve stress before finals begin, but also want to help a good cause.
“I am bringing two toys myself,” said Lametra Curry, a Black Student Union member. “We have a responsibility. We should always help and, in the process of helping, you can have a good time.”
“It warms the heart to be able to give a toy to a child [who] you don’t even know,” Curry added.
