It’s never too early

May ‘04 graduates still are seven months from walking the stage, but it’s not too early to start looking for a job, said representatives from NIU’s Career Planning and Placement Center.
CPPC representatives usually tell students graduating in December, May and August that attending the fall job fair is in their best interests, said Jean Callary, assistant director of the CPPC.
Employers at Wednesday’s job fair will be looking for future graduates, and it doesn’t hurt to get your name out, she said – especially with the economy’s potential to take an upward turn.
Even if some employers only have immediate openings that may be filled by May or August, getting your name to that company could be beneficial.
“If you don’t look, it won’t do you any good,” Callary said.
And she wasn’t just talking about seniors.
“When sophomores and juniors are looking for information, that’s a good thing,” Callary said.
