Huskies finish off regular season
October 31, 2003
The regular season will come to a close for the NIU men’s soccer team at 2:30 p.m. today at home.
The Huskies (3-11-2, 2-3 MAC) will host MAC foe Kentucky at Huskie Soccer Field.
The Wildcats (11-4-1) have won four straight games. They’ve also clinched at least a share of the MAC regular-season championship and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.
Freshman goalkeeper Matt Corcoran will look for his second consecutive shutout, while the Huskies look for their second straight victory.
On Sunday, NIU shut-out Buffalo 2-0 for its third win of the season.
NIU still does not know what seed it will be, but the Huskies will face Bowling Green in the first round of the tournament Nov. 7. A win would give the Huskies the No. 4 seed, while a loss or tie would put them in the No. 5 slot.
The winner of the BGSU-NIU game will face top-seeded Kentucky, who has a first-round bye, in the second round.
