Members of the fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon gathered at Barsema Hall on Tuesday night as alumnus Dennis Barsema dedicated a study lounge.

Barsema dedicated the Student Study Lounge for SAE members to recognize to the fraternity he once was a member of.

Other alumni included business college dean David Graf and donors Frank Porrevecchio, Joel Erickson and Michael Cotteleer.

Also present were Ryan Delaney, president of NIU’s SAE fraternity, Justin Kozlowski, current Alumni Association President for the SAE Illinois Gamma Chapter, and Seth Rosner, former Alumni Association President for the SAE Illinois Gamma Chapter.

Graf said he was especially proud of the alumni and current members of the fraternity.

“The college as a whole will be remembered by your organization,” Graf said to the fraternity members.

Graf later presented a framed letter of thanks to Delaney, which Delaney proudly accepted.

The fraternity members showed pride as Barsema spoke with closing comments.

“I am especially proud of the fraternity … and I am glad to be one of the alumni,” Barsema said.

Afterward, fraternity members and alumni gathered in the SAE room for a dedication ceremony.

The lounge can be found on the third floor in Barsema Hall.
