Man assaulted near campus

Three assailants assaulted and robbed a Carol Stream man early Friday morning in a parking lot about four blocks south of Greek Row.

According to DeKalb police, the victim, 19, was in his maroon 1991 Nissan Maxima about 1 a.m. Friday in a parking lot at 915 Crane Drive when he was approached by three men asking where the “Alpha party” was being held.

The three men then beat and robbed the victim, getting away with the victim’s cash and car.

Lt. Jim Kayes said the victim was taken by ambulance to Kishwaukee Community Hospital where he was treated and released.

“He was beat up pretty bad,” Kayes said.

The offenders stole a couple of hundred dollars cash from the victim and his maroon Maxima, Kayes said. The vehicle was found abandoned minutes later in front of Lincoln Hall at NIU.

The three suspects originally were driving a mid-’90s cream-colored Buick, which Kayes said might have been used to pick up the driver of the stolen car at Lincoln Hall.

DeKalb police are asking anyone who has information about this crime to call the DeKalb Police Department at 748-8400 or Crimestoppers at 895-3272. Callers do not have to give their names.

“Hopefully some good citizen will do the right thing and tell us who [was involved],” Kayes said.
