Black Student Union to hold Chill Fest this afternoon
September 11, 2003
Nothing. Just chillin’. That’s what many NIU students will do at today’s Chill Fest, which begins at 4 p.m. at the Center for Black Studies.
The fest is an annual fall event sponsored by the Black Student Union.
BSU treasurer DuJuan Smith said the event definitely is worth coming to.
“This is another opportunity for students – new, transfer and returning students – to meet new people and discover some of the different resources that students can utilize on campus,” he said.
Smith said this event is an excellent way for students to meet each other and network. Students also will be able to meet with several administrators at the Center for Black Studies.
The event will feature tables from several BSU umbrella organizations, such as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and Elite Bold Opulent Noble Young (E.B.O.N.Y.) Women.
There also will be free food available and games. There will be tables set up for a spades tournament and Jenga. Students also will have the opportunity to play Twister.
Smith said all games are free and he encourages all students to come to the event.
