2,000 tickets remain for Iowa State game

Today may be the last chance for students to pick up tickets for Saturday’s football game against Iowa State.

As of 4 p.m. Monday, slightly less than 2,000 of the original 6,000 student tickets remained, NIU Athletic Director Cary Groth said. Tickets that are not picked up by 5 p.m. today will be put on sale for the general public at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Tickets that are not picked up will almost definitely be bought quickly, Groth said.

Both the athletics department and the ticket office have received many requests for tickets in the last week, but had to turn people away, Groth said.

Come Wednesday, however, those tickets will be available to the public.

Students can still get their free tickets after Wednesday, but Groth said it’s not guaranteed that there will be any available.

The fact that so many tickets remain is surprising, Groth said, considering NIU’s recent success.

After their second win of the season against a ranked opponent, the Huskies come into Saturday’s contest ranked No. 20 in the Associated Press poll – NIU’s highest ranking ever. Iowa Sate comes into the game unranked, with a record of 2-1.

Tickets for the 3:05 p.m. game can be picked up with a valid NIU OneCard from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the Convocation Center box office.
