NPHC to host Greek step show at arena
April 24, 2003
The National Pan-hellenic Council will come together to host a step show tonight at the Convocation Center.
Stepping is a traditional art form that started in Africa, said Dr. LaVerne Gyant, adviser for the National Pan-hellenic Council and the director for the Center for Black Studies.
“Stepping is a form of dance that originated from various tribes and traditions in Africa,” Gyant said. “It was used for competition and to settle disputes.”
Dr. Gyant encourages people to come out and support this event.
Tara McDonald, president of the National Pan-hellenic Council, said there will be more than just the Greeks performing at the event.
“There will be a great display of talent from the Greeks, as well other organizations,” she said.
McDonald said there will be an after party at 10 p.m at the Holmes Student Center’s Regency Room.
She advises people to buy their tickets for the step show and the after party at the same time because there will only be 320 tickets sold for the after party. Star Poll
