Becerra elected VP

By a narrow margin of 56 votes, Student Association vice president nominee Andrew Becerra beat SA Senator Laisha Fox in Wednesday’s run-off election.

The run-off came as a result of last week’s election in which both candidates failed to get the required 50 percent plus one votes.

“I’m ecstatic,” Becerra said. “I’m very elated.”

Becerra said he thought it was a clean-cut and close race. He added he couldn’t have done it without the support of the others.

The entire Crisler-Miller ticket gathered in celebration at Student Trustee-elect Kevin Miller’s home.

“You all know I couldn’t have done it without you,” Becerra said.

SA President-elect Shaun Crisler seemed overjoyed for Becerra’s victory.

“They said it wouldn’t be done,” Crisler said. “This makes up for all the senate meetings.”

Crisler and the other ticket candidates present called the event “the beginning.”

Fox said she wishes the best of luck to her opponent.

“I’m still there for the students,” she said. Fox plans on running for SA Senate again.

Election Commissioner Andrew Nelms said he thought the candidates interacted well.

Unlike last week’s election, this run-off went off without any major hitches, Nelms said.

“Every time we go through this, we iron out the kinks,” Nelms said.
