Lambda Chi Alpha’s national office investigates

Representatives from Lambda Chi Alpha’s national office visited NIU on Tuesday to further investigate its chapter on campus.

Lambda Chi also still is under investigation by NIU’s Judicial Office and University Programming and Activities on the allegations of wrongdoings by the chapter.

“We’re trying to figure out what the real truth is,” said Chris Juhl, Greek Affairs activities adviser.

Until the truth is discovered, director of UP&A Rick Clark remains adamant on protecting those involved with the case.

“These are still purely allegations,” Clark said. “We want to give them a fair opportunity at the hearings,” Clark said.

Chris Juhl expressed his ideas of the possibility of members of Lambda Chi knowing what really had happened.

“It’s probable that someone knew of multiple things that were going on,” Juhl said. “It’s hard for me to believe that everyone was just oblivious to what was happening.”

Representatives from Lambda Chi’s national headquarters didn’t comment on the allegations being made.

The representatives visiting NIU preferred that the details of the allegations not be revealed until they are finished with their investigation of the fraternity, said Betsy Bly, media contact for Lambda Chi Alpha National Headquarters.

Juhl hopes the investigation will be finished before the semester ends.

“If we don’t have enough information by then, we’ll probably just have to make a decision on what we feel has happened.”
