Department opens ears to community input
March 20, 2003
The department of communicative disorders has submitted an application for reaccreditation of its graduate programs in audiology and speech-language pathology.
In an effort to gain input from the student community and consumers regarding the department’s reaccreditation, the department and the Council on the Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) will hold a meeting today.
Those in attendance are welcome to provide any comments, as long as they relate to the Standards for Accreditation.
Students who will be unavailable to attend the meeting today, but wish to voice a grievance against the CAA, can file a formal complaint about a CAA-accredited program or one seeking CAA accreditation. To do this, contact the CAA office for a copy of the procedures, or refer to the procedures for complaints against graduate education programs on the organization’s Web site.
The CAA’s policy on public comment and a copy of the Standards for Accreditation can be obtained by reaching the CAA via mail, phone or on the Web. Interested individuals can write to the CAA Office at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 10801 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD, 20852; call (800) 498-2071, or visit http://professional.asha.org/academic.
