Mike Green, a motivational speaker and recovering alcoholic, will make his way to NIU today to address the issue of substance abuse.
Green discuss what one night’s worth of bad decisions can do to your life wat 7 p.m. at the Holmes Student Center’s Carl Sandburg Auditorium.
Students think that if they only drink once in a while, nothing bad will happen to them. Those are the kinds of myths Green will discuss, said Chris Juhl, activities adviser for Greek affairs.
Green will not use a lecture format, Juhl said.
In the past, Green has used video presentations of drunken people leaving bars and brought props like shot glasses and beer mugs to get his message across to students, Juhl said.
“When I brought him to Iowa State, University of Oregon and every other campus that I’ve worked at, the students just loved him,” he said.
The hour-long session sponsored by the Campus Activities Board, Residence Hall Association, Inter-Fraternity Council, Pan Hellenic Council and Health Enhancement Department ,is free and open to the public.
