Future of BTE seems uncertain

The Student Association has yet to confirm dates for the open forum meetings on entertainment proposed by SA President Kevin Miller at Sunday’s senate meeting.
“We’re thinking late March, early April,” said Brooke Robinson, SA director of public affairs.
Robinson said they were originally planning the meetings for early March, but thought the dates were too close to Spring Break.
These meetings came in response to Miller’s announcement Sunday suspending any further actions of the Big Time Entertainment committee and withdrawing the committee appointments.
This announcement questions the future of the BTE.
“A budget hasn’t even been established,” SA accountant Shyree Sanan said.
Sanan said she has not been approached about any allocations associated with BTE.
Once something is approved by University Programming and Activities, it would come to her, Sanan said.
Over Winter Break, members of the BTE committee approved the allocation of $10,000 for the Ja Rule concert.
The SA is expected to announce open forums after the dates are confirmed. Open forums would give students an opportunity to voice their opinions on the state of entertainment on campus, Robinson said.
