‘Get Rich or Die Tryin”
February 13, 2003
Not even nine gunshot wounds could stop 50 Cent, a gangster from the streets of Queens, from releasing his album “Get Rich or Die Tryin’.” 50 is ready to let the world know that he is alive and ready to jump all over the next person who steps to him.

50 couldn’t have been any luckier when it came to record labels and producers. Shady Records, headed by Eminem, signed the controversial rapper to its label. Not only does 50 have the backing of Eminem, he also had Dr. Dre help produce the album. With two giants of rap working with 50, a lot of hype has surrounded the release of his album.
50 exploded onto the scene this year with the release of the hits “Wanksta” and “In Da Club.” Radio stations have been playing these songs day and night to get 50’s name out there. These two singles set the tone for the feel of the album, a lot of phat beats and crazy lyrics.
The album has 16 tracks and three bonus tracks. The standout song on the album is a duo with Eminem called “Patiently Waiting.” The lyrical content of the song is quite interesting. He talks about how he never can be stopped because God is on his side. He also claims that he is a little bit of 2Pac and a bit of Biggie. But 50 makes it very clear throughout this album that he thinks he is the greatest rapper, and that no one can top him. He even goes as far as to call himself a “lyrical genius.”
Murder and drugs are the topics of choice for him. It makes you wonder if he has ever done anything besides kill people and sell crack. 50 openly admits to murderous rampages on many tracks on the album. He makes it clear that people hate him and would like to see him dead. Almost every track has references to him being shot nine times, and that no one can stop him.
50 Cent makes it clear that he is one bad mother, and he isn’t afraid of anybody. The future of rap music is here, and 50 Cent is it.
