NIU needs help today from any student or community member who wants to help decorate DeKalb in preparation for Saturday afternoon’s big football game against Bowling Green.
Angie D’Ambrosio, a senior biological sciences major, is heading up a project through the Residence Hall Association to plaster the area in red and black.
D’Ambrosio, who also is the national and Illinois communication coordinator for RHA, reached separate agreements with the campus and the city for full decoration clearance. She plans to leave NIU’s mark down Annie Glidden Road to the Interstate 88 interchange, where the majority of campus visitors enter town.
Decorations will include banners, signs, streamers and a “Welcome to Huskie Country” sign on the Annie Glidden viaduct just south of Lincoln Highway. At press time, D’Ambrosio was trying to arrange to paint paw prints on campus roads.
To volunteer help, attend an open meeting at 2 p.m. today at the RHA office at Neptune North, Room B50.
For those who can’t make it at 2 p.m., the office will be staffed until at least 8 p.m. for anyone else who wants to help.
