Huskies back bark with bite

The official attendance for Saturday’s 26-17 victory over Bowling Green State was 25,822. The game was the first student sellout in Huskie Stadium history and marked the ninth-largest crowd ever to witness an NIU home game.

NIU Athletic Director Cary Groth called the crowd the most electrifying she has seen in more than 20 years at NIU, including her years spent as a student-athlete.

“I’ve never seen it rock like it did Saturday,” Groth said.

Saturday’s win over the 16th-ranked Falcons was NIU’s first victory over a ranked opponent since it defeated 24th-ranked Fresno State in 1990.

The win puts NIU at 6-0 in the Mid-American Conference, and places it alone atop the MAC West standings.
