Guy cancels her lecture
March 20, 2002
Jasmine Guy will not speak at NIU next Tuesday, as previously announced by CAB.
Guy had to cancel her lecture “The Hyphenated Woman” because she will shoot a pilot for Showtime.
“It’s a big loss for Northern,” said Brooke Beyers, CAB Speakers coordinator. “I’m really sad she can’t make it, but it couldn’t be helped.”
However, two other speakers will come to NIU in April.
CAB Speakers will bring in Trishelle from “Real World Las Vegas” and Theo from “Real World Chicago.”
Trishelle and Theo will be CAB Speakers’ last speaking engagement of the semester. They will talk on April 22 at the Holmes Student Center’s Carl Sandburg Auditorium.
Students chose Theo and Trishelle as the speakers they would most like to see through surveys at previous CAB speaking events.
“With Theo and Trishelle, we’ll be ending the semester on a good note,” Beyers said.
Each Real World participant charges $4,000 for the engagement.
“They are really inexpensive in comparison to other speakers with similar name recognition,” Beyers said.
Another “Real World Chicago” participant, Aneesa, spoke at NIU last fall. She attracted 750 students to her lecture.
