How do you feel about a video game like Playstation 2’s “Grand Theft Auto 3” that promotes interaction with highly violent content?

1. Sara Ritzel, freshman sociology and biology major:

“As long as people don’t take it to the extreme … If they know not to get totally into it and understand that it’s just a game, I look at it as something that can relieve stress.”

2. Jennifer Lee, junior psychology major:

“Due to society’s conditioning of children and teens, I believe they have the ability to decipher from right and wrong. Although some children with neglective parents may turn to video games as more of a reality than others.”

3. Patrick Mackey, senior marketing major:

“The game is rated M [for mature]. That in itself is a slap in the face for parents. Hey, if you’re not comfortable with it, then don’t buy it. It’s not that hard.”

4. Cinque Singleton, senior communication major:

“I don’t have a problem with it. It’s entertainment – not real life. People against violent video games should channel their efforts toward stopping real violence. I think video games are a waste of time anyway. I’ve seen people flunk out of school because of them.”

5. Armando Espinoza, freshman electrical engineering major:

“I think people will continue to commit violent crimes regardless if there are violent video games or not.”
