This weekend: Find yours in these pages
January 17, 2002
Thinking about the rest of this semester is like realizing at 4 a.m. that you have to work in three hours. You’ve got to do it, but there’s no guarantee you’ll make it.
Not to worry, because the Weekender is here to take your mind off things during the trying times and to share the stories of the good times.
We’ll even find something for you to do on the weekends.
There’s long been too little entertainment in and around DeKalb, but a revival is in sight. We’re here to inch it along while telling the tales of performers exuberant and lethargic. We’ll explain happenings magnificent and horrendous. We’ll reveal albums unworthy of $17 and recordings beyond price.
There’s only one thing we need, and you can give it to us. Not “you,” meaning the collective, but you, the person reading this.
We want to know what you wish for in the world of entertainment — from NIU, from the city of DeKalb, from Campus Activities Board, from the bars and especially from us.
Our job is pointless if we don’t know what you want. After all, this section, this paper, the work of 140-plus people, is all for you.
All we ask is that you drop us a line. We’re easy to find and willing to listen. And to make it easier for you, we’ve printed a mug shot of each member of the Weekender staff. We encourage you to say hello and share your thoughts and ideas with any one of us you might see. Don’t be shy. Remember, we’re on your side.
Also, stop on by the Star newsroom, located at the Campus Life Building, Suite 130. You also can call us at 753-9639 (feel free to leave a message if no one answers) or e-mail the editors at [email protected].
And if you have a personal problem, we’ll help you with that, too. You can anonymously e-mail Mazzy, the Weekender advice columnist (see page 6), who’ll offer a solution.
So help us help you by helping us to help … well, you get the point.
Have a good spring and we’ll see you soon.
