NIU volleyball faces foes

By Adam Zolmierski

SThis weekend the Huskie volleyball team will continue its season on the road, and as coach Todd Kress sees it, these games are very important.

NIU continues their three game road trip, today and Saturday, against Ball State and Miami University. On Wednesday the Huskies dropped their conference opener to Eastern Michigan.

Coming into this week’s games, Kress said that NIU couldn’t wrap up hosting the conference tournament this weekend but they could sure lose the chance to. After Wednesday’s loss, it seems the Huskies might be in a tight spot now for the rest of the trip.

Both Ball State and Miami are quality opponents, said Kress, so the matches aren’t going to be easy to win. If NIU wants any chance of staying in the Mid-American Conference race they need to win at least one.

NIU will look to senior Carrie Blankenship to continue her stellar play this weekend against these tough conference foes. She led the team with 14 kills on Wednesday.

This weekend won’t be a walk in the park for the Huskies by any means. On Friday, NIU will try to end Ball State’s 32 match home court winning streak which is second in the nation right now.
