DeKALB — NIU announced Tuesday 73 additional students have tested positive for the coronavirus, according to the Campus COVID-19 Dashboard. As of Tuesday, 124 students and two employees are currently positive for COVID-19.
The dashboard’s cumulative testing stats show a total of 150 community members have tested positive for COVID-19, and 24 have recovered.
As of Tuesday at 3:36 p.m., NIU is at 31% quarantine and isolation use, according to the dashboard. This is a 23% decrease from Friday.
In August, the university required gateway testing, meaning students must have tested negative for COVID-19 to live on campus. Students were required to provide a test negative result for a COVID-19 PCR test no sooner than seven days before their scheduled move-in date before they were allowed to live on campus, according to the dashboard.
From the initial gateway testing, 2,027 students were tested, and 39 tested positive.
