DeKALB — DeKalb police responded to two separate stabbings that occurred within a few minutes of each other around 11 a.m. Wednesday, Interim DeKalb Police Chief Bob Redel said.

“We had two stabbings within about two minutes of one another up on Hillcrest and Greenbrier,” Redel said. “They are not related.”

Police responded to a report of a stabbing at 10:56 a.m. on the 900 block of Hillcrest Drive and another at 10:58 a.m. in the 900 block of Greenbrier Road. Redel said neither victim was taken to the hospital.

The stabbing that happened on Hillcrest Drive was the result of a fight between two women, ending with one of them being superficially stabbed with a knife, Redel said. The suspect is in custody and charged with battery.

Redel said the stabbing that occurred on Greenbrier Road was a domestic violence incident and is being reviewed by the DeKalb County State’s Attorney’s Office. No arrest has been made yet.

He said there is no remaining threat to the public at this time.
