E.B.O.N.Y. Women and the Black Male Initiative to host ‘Battle of the Sexes’
DeKALB — E.B.O.N.Y. Women and the Black Male Initiative of NIU will be hosting a “Battle of the Sexes” event from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the Duke Ellington Ballroom. This event will feature an open panel discussion on a variety of topics discussing gender.
The event will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn about the misconceptions of gender, double standards of the sexes, stereotypes and more through a panel discussion, according to the E.B.O.N.Y. Women of NIU instagram page.
With COVID-19 precautions in place, there will be limited spacing available at the event and masks will be required to attend, according to the E.B.O.N.Y. Women of NIU instagram page. Those who wish to attend must fill out a reservation form prior to the event.
The Black Male Initiative started in 2002 with the goal of graduating as many African American males as possible through academic achievement, community service, mentoring and leadership development, according to the Black Male Initiative website.
E.B.O.N.Y. Women of NIU was founded in 2001 with the goal of improving the quality of life on NIU’s campus to support and uplift all women on campus, according to E.B.O.N.Y. Women of NIU website.
