DeKalb NIU’s Latino Alumni Council is hosting a Day of the Dead Virtual 5K event. Starting at noon on Saturday until noon Sunday. Participants can attend and participate anytime between those hours.

The NIU Latino Alumni Council serves as a bridge between students, the university, NIU Latinx alumni and friends. They provide the community with activities and social networking opportunities, according to NIU Latino Alumni Council’s Facebook page.

It’s encouraged that participants wear a costume, a sugar skull shirt or NIU gear, according to the NIU Alumni Association website. Registration for the event is free; all participants have to do is fill out the sign-up sheet, which can be found on the NIU Alumni Association website and the Day of the Dead Virtual 5K Facebook page.
