Tuesday
- Election Day (University Closed) (Fall 2020): Governor JB Pritzker signed a new law in June declaring Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, a state holiday for 2020. NIU will observe the paid holiday by closing our offices and canceling classes on Nov. 3.
- Election Day Help from Faculty and Staff: NIU faculty and staff will be virtually available on Election Day to help students if they have questions about voting, registering to vote at their polling place or finding their assigned polling place.

Wednesday
- NIU Transforms into an Electronic Century: NIU will host a lecture that will feature guest speaker Herb Kuryliw and will explore the evolution of technology at NIU and how it can change the future at 3 p.m. on Microsoft Teams. Contact Cindy Kozumplik at [email protected] for more information.
- The Engineering Hour: Students who have questions about engineering and the engineering program at NIU can stop by virtually to get their answers at 4:30 p.m. Contact [email protected] for more information.
- ETRA Graduate Student Association Coffee Hour: Jason Rhodes will present a virtual event on supporting online learning in a post-pandemic world at 5 p.m. Contact [email protected] for more information.
- Papers for the People: A Dime Novel Symposium: NIU, in coordination with Villanova University, will be hosting a virtual symposium on the dime novel at 6:30 p.m. Registration is required. Contact Matthew Short at [email protected] for more information.

- Operating Staff Council General Meeting: The Operating Staff Council meets the first Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. All meetings are open to the public and will be accessible via Teams. Contact Frances Mitchell at [email protected] for more information.
- Social Justice Town Hall: Decolonize Your Mind: The Academic Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Office will host a town hall to discuss colonization, American imperialism, and how to combat these pervasive forces to decolonize your mind and work and center Indigenous and non-Western perspectives.
