First Mid-American Conference football game canceled
November 15, 2020
DeKALB — The Mid-American Conference has canceled its first game of the season Sunday due to COVID-19 related issues.
The game scheduled for Tuesday between the Ohio University Bobcats and the Miami University–Ohio RedHawks was canceled after the Bobcats reported roster issues following positive COVID-19 tests and contact tracing, according to a MAC press release Sunday. The MAC has declared the game a no contest.
The cancellation is the conference’s first since returning to play on Nov. 4 with each team having a six-team schedule. The conference previously announced that teams need to play a minimum of three games to be eligible to play for the conference championship game on Dec. 18 in Detroit.
