DeKalb – The men’s basketball team looks to bounce back Wednesday after a loss Nov. 25 to open the 2020-21 season.

The Huskies blew a 20-point lead to University of Illinois–Chicago, losing 65-61. The Huskies were led by sophomore guard Tyler Cochran and junior guard Darius Beane, both with 13 points in the game.

Junior center Adong Makuoi got into foul trouble in the last game. UIC scored over half of their second half points in the paint because of NIU foul trouble, which helped the Flames mount a comeback.

The Huskies will play Southern Illinois University–Edwardsville at the NIU Convocation Center in DeKalb. Tip-off will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, and the game will be broadcasted on ESPN3.

SIUE has had two losses and one win in their last three games. They lost in their opening games to Saint Louis University, 89-52, and Louisiana State University, 94-81. They won their previous game against St. Louis Pharmacy, 80-45.

Senior guard Mike Adewunmi leads the Cougars with the most points this season, averaging 13 points per game. Adewunmi scored 23 points in the loss to LSU, which is the highest point total from any SIUE player in a game this season.
