DeKALB — NIU’s chapter of the Newman Center, a catholic campus ministry, is holding a telethon fundraiser. This year is the 60th anniversary of its annual benefit. The fundraiser is 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

To commemorate the anniversary, the center will be broadcasting a live multi-layered event, featuring students, information about the mission of Newman Center and an interactive cooking experience with Father Manno, according to the Newman Center’s website.

The fundraiser’s purpose is to raise money for the Newman Center, 512 Normal Road. The money raised will support Newman Center’s mission. The center’s mission is to spread the gospel to students, faculty and staff at NIU, campus minister, Denise Sanders, said.
